Trunk or Treat

2011 Trunk or Treat was a big success!

Once again the attendance at our annual Trunk or Treat increased from the previous year. We had over 750 people attend this year’s event with 18 host trunks. This has become one of our biggest community outreaches where we invite children and adults from the area to enjoy a safe and fun Halloween alternative free of charge. Most children came from our neighborhood, but we had many families from as far away as Covington and Prairieville. We entertained the children with 7 games this year as well as cupcake decorating, a crafts table, face painting, family pictures, a hayride, a rope climbing activity and several give-aways. Everyone had the opportunity to enjoy a hot dog, a hamburger or a bowl of jambalaya all free of charge. Each guest was given a paper showing our regular services and activities, and church brochures went out to our guests with their free family photos. Thank you to everyone who participated this year!

We had a trunk decorating contest again this year with lots of creative trunks. This year and the winners were:

1st. place   -- The Bourgeois Family with “Hogwarts”

2nd place --  Jerielle Adams with “The Adams Family”

3rd place   --  Patricia Ordonez with “Boo the Phantom”

St. Matthew’s is becoming known as a church that gives to the community without expecting anything in return. We hope that everyone had a good time and we pray that we touched the lives of the people in our community that attended. We are looking forward to doing it again next year.
